The National Weather Service confirmed strong storms to receive the New Year

On the last day of the year, the National Weather Service issued a warning for “occasional storms and hail” governing for the City of Buenos Aires and several north-central provinces of the country.

This December 31 began with temperatures around 35 degrees. Because of the weather phenomenon that began after noon, which presents strong winds and occasional rain, NWS gave a warning to the New Year eve.

In addition to the City of Buenos Aires, the alert applies to the northeast of Cordoba, southern Corrientes, Entre Rios, north-central Santa Fe and southern Santiago del Estero.

On the affected area “prevails a humid and unstable air mass” said sources of the institution, while they added that “the entry of a cold front will lead to the development of areas of showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be of high intensity.”

Thus may also take place abundant waterfalls, intense gusts and occasional hail. For that, the SMN warned that “these areas will move to the north of the country.”
