Argentina, December 31, 2012
January 2, the first working day of the year, will have a special feature. It is the presentation of the Executive to the Justice to request the advance in the case that stops the full implementation of the Media Law.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Government will make the presentation. The order comes after the Supreme Court rejected the per saltum required and also confirmed the precautionary measure issued to prevent the full operation of the article that speaks about the adequacy of the economic Groups to the limits imposed by the Law.
In the last hours, the head of the Federal Authority of Audiovisual Communication Services (AFSCA), Martin Sabbatella asked the courts to “work without stopping” to resolve the issue despite the judicial holidays.
He also said that he “did not have many expectations about what the Civil and Commercial Court could say”, as he said it is one of the legal spaces “colonized” by corporations.
Finally, he concluded “we had expected a bit more about what the Supreme Court could define, we expected a different situation because this is a debated law, which undoubtedly comes to democratize the word.”
