Nicolás Maduro confirmed that Chavez has suffered further complications

Venezuela, December 31, 2012

Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela’s vice president, confirmed on Sunday from Havana that “the health of President Hugo Chavez remains poor after suffering further complications.”

Maduro, along with the president’s daughter, Rosa Virginia, said: “Chavez has suffered further complications from the respiratory infection he has”.

“He underwent 19 days after surgery but the health of President Chavez continues to be delicate, presenting complications that are being addressed in a process not without risks.”

The current president of Venezuela reported that “he’ll remain in Havana the next few hours with his family to follow the evolution of his health”.

“Thanks to their physical and spiritual strength, the commander Chavez is facing this difficult situation.”
