Martin Palermo assumed as the new coach of Godoy Cruz

In Mendoza, the former striker and idol of Boca Juniors Martin Palermo took over the coaching of Godoy Cruz. On Tuesday he will direct the first practice of the team.
“It is a new step for me and I am very satisfied and happy with the proposal that the club made to me. I’m sure about the players and the seriousness of the leadership,” he said at the press conference where he was presented.
Regarding his style of play, he acknowledged that his team will seek to have as a similar style of those coaches who influenced him in his soccer career. “Bianchi, Basile, Bielsa and Diego Maradona,” said the brand new coach.
His first opponent will be Quilmes on Saturday at 7:15 pm at the Malvinas Argentinas stadium.
His aide will be former Boca goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri, joined by Rolando Schiavi, Xeneizes current captain, when he retires from football in January.
