Lorenzino: The only possibility that Argentina has, is paying creditors

Economy Minister Hernan Lorenzino said that “the only possibility” that Argentina has, is paying creditors to enter the swap of debt in default.

“We have an obligation and commitment to our creditors, who are admitted to the exchanges in 2005 and 2010,” Lorenzino said.

He did so in an interview published by the newspaper Página/12 after the presentation by Argentina to New York Judge Thomas Griesa to prevent so-called “vulture funds” to seize the money that the country deposited in the United States to meet with creditors.

“The only chance we have is to meet the creditors participating in the debt restructuring,” remarked the head of the Economy Ministry.

He added that “Argentina has the responsibility and will fulfill all obligations to its creditors,” and stressed that “the country does not only want to meet them, but it can do it.”
