The complaint filed by the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) against the renowned film director Eliseo Subiela for tax evasion, was dismissed by the judge Javier Lopez Biscayaert for lack of offense.
The filmmaker had complained publicly, in a radio program, because the body chaired by Ricardo Echegaray did not authorized the purchase of dollars to travel to a film festival in the Peruvian city of Lima, organized by the Argentina Chancellery.
AFIP’s response was immediate, as he was accused of do not declare his income and being the owner of “ghost companies”.
Subiela reported that after complaining because he couldn’t buy dollars AFIP conducted a non-standard procedure for requesting information on his financial position and said he was “haunted” by the Government. “I was not afraid since the time of Isabel Peron,” he said.
