The Luxembourg royal wedding: Prince William and Douches Stephanie de Lannoy

October 21, 2012

One of the biggest days of Luxembourg illustrious history has finally arrived, the wedding of Prince William, heir to the Belgian throne and Duchess Stephanie de Lannoy held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Luxembourg.

A huge guest list of foreign royal families and dignitaries filled the church to watch the ceremony.

Accompanied by her brother, Duke Jehan de Lannoy, the bride wore a dress by Elie Saab, with a tail of four meters deployed as she walked down the aisle.

The dress was with three-quarter sleeves and a silk tulle veil, and was also adorned with a silver floral motif.

The ceremony was carried out with a mixture of French and English, and had a moment of silence for Alix, Stephanie’s mother who died in August this year.

The wedding celebrations two days cost about 500,000 euros (paid by the taxpayer in Luxembourg), and included free concerts, street performances, a giant screen, and fireworks.
