Minister of National Education Alberto Sileoni suggested that the 2013 school year begins on February 25, in order to reach a goal of 190 days of school.
The Minister said, “With the efforts of the provinces, the Nation, and trade organizations for several years we have been serving the purpose of the 180 school days, set by Law No. 25,864, enacted in January 2004. The year 2011 was the largest number of school days of the decade, and the academic year 2012 will be even better. “
“To advance these achievements it seems important that in 2013, the last day of the week of February is devoted to classes.”
“Having become an education system that was an archipelago in the national education system, having advanced in all provinces in investment policies and other general and sector specific, the 190 days of school has to be a floor minimum can be met across the country. “
Tour operators, to this proposal ‘fear losing the second half of February, it will be shorter,’ and asked ‘delay the start of classes in the first week of March’.
