Then he said, “I want to thank the more than six million Venezuelans who today gave me confidence,” adding “I want to tell you that you should count on me, I’m at your service.”

In a gesture of political maturation Capriles congratulated Chavez and asked him to “work together” for all Venezuelans. “We have planted many seeds throughout our Venezuela”

Opposition candidate spoke to his followers “do not feel defeated,” adding “God’s timing is perfect, and God’s time will come.”

In the press conference the opposition candidate said “I’m a Democrat” and announced “I will never put our people in distress [...] that is democracy.”

Capriles said: “I call on those who remain in power, respect and recognition to nearly half of the country that does not agree with this government.”
