Scientists found a species of dwarf dinosaur with vampire fangs and ruffled feathers, like a porcupine agile two-legged, which transited prehistoric Earth.

It has less than two meters long and weighs a domestic cat, the strange creature is one of the smallest dinosaurs ever discovered.

His skull shaped parrot less than three inches long and a pair of fangs like a vampire that probably were used for self-defense and sparring partners.

It was named Pegomastax africanus, or thick jaw Africa, and is one of the smallest dinosaurs ever discovered, said Professor Paul Sereno of the University of Chicago in the United States.

The fossil was found in South Africa in 1960, but only recently was rediscovered a fossil collection of Harvard University.

Just as the vampire fangs in his short beak parrot has hidden behind teeth to cut plants and may have been adapted to pluck fruit.

Sereno said: “It is very rare that a plant-eater as Pegomastax have enlarged canines and sharp like a vampire.”

Some experts suggest that “the teeth would have been used for the consumption of meat or insects”, but Professor Sereno said, “They were more likely to be used for self-defense and combat competitive with peers.”
