Proud parents took pictures of its newborn son, but one in particular stood out. The shocking image shows nine weeks Romero lying on a mat with a white ghostly reflection in his left eye.

Romero was rushed to a local children’s hospital where a consultant delivered the devastating news that ‘rare eye cancer had caused a large tumor behind the eye and five smaller behind his right eye’.

Four months later, Romero responds to chemotherapy and laser treatment.

“Romero is our first child, so we were taking a lot of photos with a cell phone,” said Norville from Perry Barr, Birmingham.

“Sometimes he had red eyes in the photos but this looked almost like a hole in the eye.”

“We went to the doctor, who said that the eye does not reflect light and sent us to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.”

“In a few days, tests revealed the tumor mass behind his eyes.”
