Feletti: “We want to induce savings in pesos”
September 26, 2012
The MP and former Deputy Economy Minister Roberto Feletti defended the exchange control measures of the government, and said he will not get up until “the weight will become a reserve currency of value.”
“As part of this scheme that works to decouple the external sector of monetary policy, that was the core of the reform of the Central Bank Charter: to issue currency regardless of the level of international reserves,” he said.
“In that logic and until completion of the process of pesification, that is the peso becoming a reserve currency of value, it will be necessary to maintain these restrictions,” Feletti added.
“[Controls] are instruments that are in many countries. Certain sectors of the population do not understand this and, among other things, came to claim. We want to induce savings in pesos,” he concluded.
