The former Argentine tennis player expressed his desire to lead Argentina in the next Davis Cup. He questioned players who do not want to play it and asked the public for tolerance.

“It is a great honor. All my colleagues have been captains, it would be a prize to a player’s career. The fate of a good player is being Davis Cup captain, “said Guillermo Vilas.

However, he explained that “there is a blockage in the reading of the leaders, I am not in their minds. They have given several chances to several characters and have not been lucky enough to do things to keep everybody happy.”

“In my time, when the Davis had the best coach, and everyone wanted to play it for a coach to guide them. Now, when a player is mentioned, the first thing is the fear of being booed by the audience when it should be an honor to be nominated, and we have to recover that spirit, “he said.

Finally, whistles questioned Juan Martin del Potro in the match against Czech Republic. “The whistles … I’ve never been whistled. I was whistled once in the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis because I threw racket, and  I was white, I lost three straight games,” he said.
