Uruguay: The storm left three dead, including a child

Three people died, including a child of seven years old, during the tragic time in Uruguay.

According to the country’s media, some 140,000 homes were affected by power outages, there were some 300 trees fell in Montevideo, and public offices were evacuated.

The strong storm that struck the south of the country during most of yesterday left three people dead, two of them drowned in San Jose when they were washed away by car trying to cross a stream in the vicinity of Route 1 near Route 3.

The third death would have occurred as a result of the fall of a column in Maldonado Road, although this information was not confirmed by police.

Consequences of the storm: 511 people evacuated. 245 in Montevideo, 110 in Canelones, 100 in San Jose, 29 in Maldonado, 18 in Colonia, 5 in Soriano and 4 in Thirty Three. Several areas of the city lost power, including the Cerro.
