A group of workers protested for the urgent eviction ordered by national government in the Demarchi Island, where the president announced that it will create a visual pole.
On the island several people work: there is an office of the undersecretary for Ports and Waterways, the National School River, berth Waterways Company SA, YPF storage plants, former Domecq Garcia shipyard, Tandanor, Department of River Plate Building the National Port and Waterways, and the former City Sports Club Boca Juniors.
“The island is not uninhabited. Whoever ordered the bailout is ignorant,” said Juan Carlos Schmid, head of the guild of Dredging and Marking.
“The note of the Secretary of Transportation [about evictions] does not clarify the situation of our employees. We can not be moved anywhere. We need spring and water,” the unionist added.
“In those 12 acres there are alternatives to the operational base is preserved. The audiovisual pole with half the space could be developed without problems,” he said
