Sen. Anibal Fernandez confirmed that if it is approved in Congress, vote at 16 will be optional. The statements arise when various officials began with the discussion of the project in the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Senate.
Fernandez is the main driver of this initiative, along with his pair Elena Corregido that even includes the vote of foreigners with more than two years of residence in the country.
In the debate, the Minister of Education, Alberto Sileoni, defended the project: “It is not correct to speak of indoctrination or breaking into a school, schools work for a long time in the construction of citizenship.”
He added, “Argentina society has acquired maturity that allows entering school in every subject.”
