Maravilla Martinez beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

The Argentine Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez is the new middleweight champion of the world after winning against Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez (son).

The fight was held at the Thomas & Mac Center in Las Vegas for the Weekend Independence of Mexico in front of a full capacity audience, where they sold all 19,186 tickets for.

Martinez dominated the first 11 rounds, when he wanted and holding the few Mexican attacks. But in the 12th round, Cheavez Jr. hit a right hand that hurt Martinez, who fell to the canvas. The Argentine recovered and survived the rest of the assault to keep the victory.
