In a surprise move, the government of the City of Buenos Aires announced today the departure of Jorge Lemus from his post as Minister of Health and the appointment of Graciela Reybaud instead.

The sub-Secretary of Health Integrated is the first woman in history to lead the health portfolio Buenos Aires, after the resignation of the minister of Buenos Aires.

Reybaud is ophthalmologist, and before taking office directed the Hospital St. Lucia. The prime minister, Mauricio Macri, will take oath on Monday.

Meanwhile, it was noted that management Lemus was “successful” and will be appointed as Chairman of the Health Advisory Council of Buenos Aires government.

However, the official statement did not detail the reasons why the minister resigned. It happens a few days after a confrontation with the Church for the regulation of abortion.
