Davis Cup: Del Potro finally joins the team

Finally, after huge speculation in the past days, Juan Martin del Potro confirmed his participation in the Argentine team for the Davis Cup, ready to face the Czech Republic.

With input from Delpo, the picture definitely changes at the semifinals. The Tandil guy will begin tomorrow at 10 am, when he will put himself at the disposition of the captain Martin Jaite.

The Czechs have large aces as Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek and without Delpo to reach the final of the Davis would be almost utopic. Sure, that goal remains elusive, but the winner of the U.S. Open 2009 is a key part of the Argentinean team.

“Juan Martin is the No. 1 in the team, the series of course changes with or without him. But any player can have doubts and we must always have a plan B” Jaite said.

The draw for the order of the semifinal match between Argentina and the Czech Republic will take place tomorrow at La Usina del Arte from 10.30.
