The UCR reject the project to vote at age 16 and will present an alternative

The Radical Civic Union confirmed that it will reject the project promoted by Sen. Anibal Fernandez about the vote at 16 years old and will present an alternative.

The head of the National Committee, Mario Barletta said on the radio that the UCR will vote against it as argued that it is “an electoral maneuver by the ruling.”

“We agree that there is a greater involvement and increase participation mechanisms,” Barletta said.

 He added: “The UCR is the party of youth, what happens now becomes fashionable for young people starting up his membership of a desk with important positions.”

“What has become more complex the debate is the brutal government interests in electoral raise it from a logical rather than serious debate that has to do with the expansion of rights. Democratic participation does not end or begin with the vote,” the official said.
