City of Buenos Aires, September 8, 2012

After union conflicts and rate increases, the subway continues in crisis. The problem is now the number of passengers: fewer choose this mode of transport and others choose to change their way of traveling.

The figures says that between January, when there was an increase of $ 1.10 to $ 2.50, and July 2012, there were sold 29 million less tickets than the same period last year, according to a report done by the INDEC.

For its part, the busses experienced a 6.8% increase in passenger numbers, which is explained by the decline which also suffered the train. The difference in the case of the latter was a 10.61% less than last year.

In Sarmiento line where happened the tragedy of Once, which killed 51 people, the monthly ridership declined by 63%.
