A spectacular light show that looked like UFOs surprised and shone in the sky of Vienna, Austria, at the German festival of electronic and art Voestalpine Klangwolke.
Each light was actually a device called a “quadricopter” designed and built by a team consisting of members of the Ars Electronica Futurelab and Ascending Technologies GmbH.
The proposal called “cloud of sound”, organized by Ars Electronica and Brucknerhaus reached the top prize of the festival. Each unit had a light ball changing color and intensity in a coordinated dance to six meters high.
At least 90,000 people enjoyed the show, to the riverside Danuvio. “The beginning of this story highlights the discovery of electricity and the subsequent triumph of artificial light,” organizers said.
