Cristina Kirchner: “We have the largest minimum wage in dollars and purchasing power”

August 28, 2012

The president, Cristina Kirchner, noted agreement to update the Minimum Wage and Mobile, and noted that the purchasing power granted is greater than the countries of the region.

Gentlemen employers, fellow workers. is the ninth year that this meeting takes place [Minimum Wage Council]. Often the CTA objected, but even against never stopped coming.

I want to point out something that Gerardo Martinez stated that is what is happening in the world and what we have here, as we agree to a new minimum wage, vital and mobile. The salary was increased, since 2003, 13 times.

One can think of this in terms of minimum wage dollars, but you also have to see the purchasing power that $ 600 will not buy the same thing in any other country. We have the largest minimum wage in nominal and purchasing power parity in the world.

You can buy a lot more with this minimum wage in Argentina than in other countries, developing and developed too.

One can notice the formidable leap we’ve taken the Argentines. I feel very proud to be part of this group in which workers and employers agree.
