Argentine businessman is found dead in Punta del Este

An Argentine businessman was found dead in Mansa beach of Punta del Este and police are investigating whether it was a homicide.

The victim was identified as Javier Eduardo Velez and according to the first results of the autopsy; the cause of death was asphyxiation. There were no signs of violence.

Velez was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and a red jacket. He was gone last night around three in the morning, after leaving his job at a casino.

The man lived in a house in the neighborhood of La Pastora, near where he was found dead. He had a check for $ 150,000 that was not found on his clothes or in his truck.

Investigators believe the crime was perpetrated by a debtor.
