Filmmaker Tony Scott died jumping from a bridge in Los Angeles

The director Tony Scott, 68, died after jumping from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in California around 00:30 am on Sunday.

The death of the director of Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II and enemy of the state, among others, is being investigated as a suicide.

According to several people who were at the scene and called 911, ‘Scott climbed a fence on the south side of the bridge, which spans San Pedro and Terminal Island, and jumped without hesitation’.

A dive team pulled the body of the water several hours later. He was taken to a dock in Wilmington and turned over to the county coroner’s office.

A suicide note was found later in his office, but its content was not disclosed.
