President Cristina Kirchner became embroiled in controversial statements on the alleged European xenophobia.
“Europeans are xenophobic,” said the president in a ceremony at Government House to open a school for the Qom communities of Chaco.
It all started when Cristina referred to the governor of Chaco, Jorge Capitanich saying, “This looks half Indian but do not be fooled, he comes from the xenophobic Europe.”
She continued, “Yes, Europeans are xenophobic” but then realizing such statements she added, “I did not mean that Europeans are all xenophobic, but in Europe there are some that have a historical trend a little bit ugly”.
And she assured, “Not all, but there is an important part that has that little load”, but asked that the newspaper El Pais, Spain, not to use these words for its cover.
