In video: 138 skydivers break world record in the U.S.
Chicago, August 7, 2012
At least 140 paratroopers broke a world record, after having thrown all together in northern Illinois, falling at a speed of 220 miles per hour.
Three judges of the International Aeronautical Federation certified that 138 paratroopers were launched in different planes in Ottawa, about 80 miles southwest of Chicago.
These paratroopers took 15 attempts over three days to achieve beating the previous record of 108 skydivers, which was conducted in 2009.
“I feel amazing,” said Nelson, one of the organizers and the owner of Skydive Chicago, where he broke the record, shortly after jumping. “There was much excitement,” he added.
