The flag of the Obelisk was stolen

An unusual act of vandalism took place at the Republic Square meters from the Obelisk, when unknown people stole the flag of Argentina in a demonstration in support of Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez.
Minister of Environment and Public Space Diego Santilli said, “The truth is that vandalism does not stop surprising me. This time they stole the flag of the City of a mast just reinstalled 20 days ago. The truth is that it is outrageous. “
He added, “Whenever there are events at the Obelisk, people damaged Plaza of the Republic. When they are not painted, it happen things like this. The right to express it is not disputed and is valid, but we do care about us. “
“This week we suffered several attacks of vandalism. This costs us a lot of resources to all neighbors, but we will repair everything. Hopefully the day will come soon that this does not happen again, but first we must understand that the public space as we care for our house,” the minister said.
The flag measures 7 meters by 4 and has not great commercial value, but it has to be manufactured and paint it by hand and that takes time. Authorities are checking security cameras to identify the thieves.
