Salta: Police officers torturing teenagers in Police Station
Salta, July 19, 2012
Again, Salta appeared in the news and not necessarily for its tourism. After the death of two teenage friends who appeared hanged from a tree and the appearance of skeletal remains of a woman near Oran, now tortures were denounced in a police station.
The video shows terrible images of what happened. In the town of General Guemes, five policemen tortured two young spraying them with water and putting bags over their heads while staying naked, kneeling and hands tied.
Eduardo Sylvester, provincial security minister, told a news conference that police were accused of “unlawful coercion” and said they had already been arrested. Also called them “criminals dressed as policemen,” adding that “the government of Salta will not tolerate these crimes.”
The official told the media that the complaint is in the hands of the Governor Juan Manuel Urtubey and evidence in the case was referred to the Coroner Third Formal Nomination, Paul Farah.
