A 40 year old man set himself on fire during a protest in Israel in full view of everyone, leaving terrible images of the moment.

The protest took place on Saturday night against the high cost of living and other social demands, when the man sprayed a flammable liquid and set himself on fire.

People who were at the scene desperately tried to extinguish the flames attempting to help the man who was rolling on the floor to the pain of burns.

The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.
