July 13, 2012
In the case of “Cromañon II”, the Oral Criminal Court No. 24 sentenced Rafael Levy, owner of the land where the jack worked, to four and a half years in prison for “negligent fire.” He will remain free until substantiate appeals.
Meanwhile, former commissioner of the sectional 7th., Gabriel Sevald, and former officials ibarristas Juan Carlos Lopez, Vincent Carelli and Enrique Rizzo, were acquitted.
“It’s always very difficult to convict officials. Here we see that Levy, who has no political support, was sentenced. Other officials, including officials of whom we had more evidence against, were acquitted,” considered Fernando Soto, one of the prosecuting attorneys.
