México chooses new president

July 1th 2012

This Sunday, the Mexican people decide the future of the country through elections. 79.4 million Mexicans are called to vote in more than 143,150 polling stations from 08:00 to 18:00.

They elect a president who will govern for a period of six years, 500 deputies and 128 senators of the Parliament, 925 mayors, governors of the states of Chiapas, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Morelos, Tabasco and Yucatan, 15 local congresses and the head of the Federal District.

The first surveys may be disclosed at 8 pm and it is expected to IFE to release the first official bulletin at 11:45 pm.

Some believe that the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) would return to power, because the representatives of the National Action Party (PAN) was unsuccessful to satisfy millions of citizens, failing to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and ineffective with the war against drug cartels.
