June 22, 2012

On Wednesday June 20 unionist formed organizational structures of the Association Maria Adrian Cornejo, the political arm of the National Board for the next four years. The event took place at the Municipal Sports General Rodriguez, before a crowd exceeding 3000 people.

The Secretary General of the General Rodriguez Branch, Heber River, opened the event with words of gratitude to the ATILRA Secretary General Hector Luis Ponce, for trusting in his branch for the event. Then, Ponce spoke, formally initiating the Special Meeting in which he was unanimously elected as leader of the group.

ATILRA Secretary General took the opportunity to define the position of the Organization in the national context, stating that the organization supports the growth and inclusion policies that are being implemented in the country since 2003, while the dairy support Hugo Moyano for another term in the CGT, as the truck leader is one of the men who in the nineties “did not betrayed workers like others who want to succeed hi now.”

Ponce also said that “in the nineties many workers left out of the production chain, and that’s just a tribute to all those who unfortunately were thrown to the roadside by neoliberal policies.”

Also, Ponce said the sole owners of the Organization are based workers, and that when an officer is placed on the Organization, it is because something is wrong. The Organization is the beginning and the end of ATILRA, and the tool for each step of the Organization is the unit-based workers. An organization without unity is a contradiction that quickly damages to each of its members.

In this regard, Adrian Ponce recalled that Maria Cornejo was a militant communist who died tragically while traveling to work in the campaign of the list headed by the current Secretary General in late 2001 that defeated the then ruling party in ATILRA national elections.
