Boca’s stadium could be disabled for the use of flares
Yesterday, Boca defeated the University of Chile 2-0 in the first leg of the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores. However the fans fired flares in the second half and forced the referee to suspend the game for a few minutes, until the smoke disappeared and the match could be resumed. Now the Xeneizes could receive a penalty if it is found that the pyrotechnics were inside the club. La Bombonera could be disabled for future meetings.
While Boca goes through a great time, news of the disqualification of the stadium could not be very encouraging for the team. The Court must determine whether the flares fired by the fans, which forced the referee Wilmar Roldán to stop the meeting, were inside the club or not. The sanction was requested by the Security Committee in the last hours.
Now they just have to wait for the research to find out if they were located in the stadium.
It may be recalled that in October 2011, Velez suffered the suspension of their stadium for having used fireworks in a game for the local tournament.
