Gabriel Milito announced his retirement from professional football

Independiente’s defender Gabriel Milito announced he will retire from professional football at the end of the tournament. He is 31 years old.

In a press conference, Milito said that “the best for me and the club is to stop the activity when this tournament ends.”

“The reasons are clear, I’m not mentally or physically as I would like to be,” the defender added.

“The Marshal” suffers an injury that sidelined him the last two games of “Red”. Also, he could not regain the level that he used to have in Zaragoza and Barcelona.
