President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner announced at Casa Rosada, the transfer of the Secretariat of Transport to the Interior Ministry, creating a new ministry.
“One of the first tasks will be the establishment of a transportation agency in the metropolitan area, a tripartite body to convene once and for all the national state, the government of the city and the province of Buenos Aires,” said Cristina.
“Secretariat and secretary will be transfered all together. A lawyer and an accountant have all the tools, I think it can work very well,” she said about the joint work to be done by Alejandro Ramos, Secretary of Transport and Florencio Randazzo, minister of the Interior.
She talked about new economic measures to protect domestic industry and therefore employment.
The president announced an increase in the import tariff for capital goods by 2% for those not produced domestically and 14% for those that are manufactured in Argentina. The measure will apply from 1 July.
“We are giving fiscal balance benefits to the provinces of Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Santa Fe,” said Cristina.
