The Supreme Court ratified the decision of the Witness of Jehovah to refuse the blood transfusion

Today, the father of the Jehovah’s Witness who remains hospitalized with bullets in his body questioned the decision taken by the Supreme Court in this regard. The ruling ratified the decision of the patient to choose if he wants to receive a blood transfusion because of his religious beliefs.

“Pablo is worst every day, with low weight. He’s still tied to the bed and every time he wakes up he has a desperate look” said Jorge Albarracini to describe the situation of his son, who remains hospitalized at the clinic Bazterrica in the neighborhood of Recoleta.

He added, regarding the Supreme Court that “it lacks of freshness. They do things such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses. They have a theory and they follow it as the only truth. We should be treated individually”.

“Witnesses of Jehovah will not change their position, because his idea of eternal life makes them think that life on earth isn’t important” he argued before visiting his son.

The young has two bullets in his body, one in his head and another in one of his legs. Both surgeries are bleeding and should be done if he wants to survive, that’s why he needs the blood transfusions.

His father also questioned the members of the congregation to which his son belongs, pointing out that “are the Jehovah’s Witnesses who are behind all of this. They have faith in eternal life, so they ignore and disregard everything else, including the suffering of one of them.

The Court responded to an injunction filed by Albarracini, with the signatures of Elena Highton de Nolasco, Enrique Petracchi, Juan Carlos Maqueda and Carlos Fayt, which argued “it does not exists any relevant public interest case to justify the restriction on personal freedom of the young injured”.

And they also stated “we formally recognize the extraordinary appeal (done by the patient’s wife) and confirmed the ruling appealed.”
