Juan Pablo Piccardo, president of the Buenos Aires underground, was presented at the meeting convened at the Ministry of Labour by the conflict in the subway.
“The city government is not part of this conflict, but we have come because the priority is to avoid the strike tomorrow,” said the official to reporters.
Piccardo revealed that the mayor advised him to try to avoid the strike, because that is the priority.
“The important thing here is that this is a conflict is between Metrovías and workers, they should solve it. If the company cannot resolve it, the national state must participate in the solution because it has the concession contract with the company Metrovías and this concession has not been transferred to the City of Buenos Aires” Piccardo said.
He further explained, “The rate increase was due to the subsidies remove made by the national government and was the only way to maintain the public service.”
