Photographer Tommy Eliassen spends his nights chasing auroras around his hometown of Mo i Rana, Norway to take shots at its best.

Eliassen says, “It is a delight at all times.” “We’re used to seeing the dawn, but I can understand why people travel around the world to see the lights.”

“After years of photographing this natural phenomenon I still find it beautiful and fascinating at all times.”

Eliassen, 34, added, “From the beginning I was interested in the night, the landscape and long exposure photography.”

“But in recent years I got involved in the photographs of auroras. I guess it’s because I have the fortune to live just below the Arctic Circle. In fact you cannot avoid the dawn here.”

Mo i Rana is situated 50 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle and temperatures can drop below-20C in winter.
