Mysterious disease affects Ugandan child giving him enormous legs

Vicente Oketch, the 10-year-old from Uganda, is fighting for his life after his legs began to swell mysteriously.

The child is unable to walk and is forced to wear girls clothes because the pants do not come because of the size of his legs.

His father, Tito Opoya, says that ’it really upsets him because he has to wear pink and the other kids tease him. He is only small, but his legs are really heavy and weigh more than he does.’

Meanwhile, Ugandan Doctor Isaac Osire has launched a request to assist the boy, as he may have fasciitis infection, a very serious disease.

“The hospital now says it is considering amputation of Vincent’s legs at the thigh. I’m very worried about this, because we keep hearing different diagnose,” he explained.

“It’s difficult to know what is correct. We desperately need a British doctor, or foreign medical expert, who can offer advice about Vincent’s case,” he added.

“The case is extremely complex and we’d like to find out if there is anything that can be done to save his legs,” he ended.
