A Newell’s fan was killed by Union hooligans

A Newell’s fan, who was identified as Sergio Victor Fernandez was shot to death by hooligans of Union yesterday, after the match that both teams played in Rosario city.

The victim was able to tell what happened before he died. He said he was in the corner of Pellegrini and United Provinces St., around 19 pm in downtown Rosario, wearing a T-Newell’s.

Then a green bus with Union fans passed by the place after the game where Newell’s won 3-1, and according to Fernandez, someone shot him from the inside with a gun.

The victim was admitted to a hospital in Rosario, where he could give his last story. Then he died about 23 hours.

Police carried out a fast operating torque intercept the bus, which traveled with around 54 people, including 11 minors. But officials found no guns inside the vehicle and once identified they were all released.

Police said the victim, Newell’s fan, worked as a cleaner in the center of Rosario and had criminal history “robbery and injury.”
