Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez is leading the polls for the elections this year with a majority over the right-winged candidate Henrique Capriles.
According to the study of the Social Research Group XXI (GIS XXI), the candidate of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) leads with 57% of the vote, while Capriles, of the Bureau of Democratic Unity (MUD), would take only 21% of the vote. Other alternatives account for 11% of registered and a 10% would be undecided.
Jesse Chacón, head of the consultancy, said that Chavez “has changed the political landscape in the country and in the mind of Venezuela there is only the president as a candidate for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.”
GIS XXI chieff stated that the error of the MUD was to create a candidate “who does not look like what is he,” and “tried to create a Chavez.”
