Scotland Yard asked the Portuguese authorities to reopen the search for Madeleine McCann.
Detective Andy Redwood, ‘hopes that the case can be resolved,” his team of 28 detectives today released a picture of the missing girl as she looks like at 9 years old.
The photograph was created with the cooperation of Madeleine family and went public a few days before five years after the disappearance of the little girl.
Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry never gave up and the hope of finfing her daughter is still alive. They said today they were satisfied with the image.
Redwood said, “Scotland Yard had the best chance to solve the mystery, because it was the first time that information from all sources was considered.
Madeleine was nearly four when she disappeared during a family vacation in Praia da Luz in Portugal on May 3, 2007, when her parents Kate and Gerry McCann dined with friends nearby.
The official investigation was closed in July 2008 but the review of Scotland Yard’s case was reopened last year, when David Cameron, responded to a request from the parents of Madeleine.
Redwood said that “his team was analyzing each piece generated in the investigation.”
He added: “Anything is possible and of course, within that material, the answer might be.”
The team is gathering information from the Portuguese, the security forces, the British police and private investigations commissioned by the McCanns.
