Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri said that if he becomes president in the 2015, will maintain the nationalization of YPF, a law which is treated by Congress as reversing the process would be “very complex and damaging to Argentines.”
“If you have already done the damage to break an obligation assumed in ’92 by the same who had already agreed in 2015 to change back would not be good. The damage was done. What would have to do is follow this scheme 51-49 doing well,” said the official.
At the same time, Macri confirmed that the decision to nationalize YPF is against the interests of the Argentine and he would handled the situation differently.
“I, at first, had made the scheme of Petrobras, a brilliant scheme, really, and I place the company accountable for professionals who know the subject, chosen by competition.”
“I do not let each arriving, directors, ministers, or whatever, put the bride in the company,” he said.
Macri added that “Argentina make them different things, thereby devaluing the word of the Argentine, in Brazil, (former President Fernando) Cardoso made a commitment that Petrobras would be in the stock market, managed transparently and Lula continued that commitment to Brazil.”
