Hugo Chavez will not participate in the Summit of the Americas because of his health

The president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, will not travel to Cartagena de Indias for the Summit of the Americas for his health.

Nicolás Maduro, Foreign Minister Bolivarian announced that “the president has decided not to attend this event on the recommendation of his doctors.”

“We have already informed the government of Colombia and several friendly governments that the president will not attend the summit this time but will be a participant in the debate,” said Maduro, from Cartagena.

Meanwhile, he announced that the Bolivarian president will travel to Havana today to continue his cancer treatment, which “is going excellently.”
