YPF: Spain warns that “there will be consequences” if it is nationalized
April 12, 2012
Spanish Industry Minister Juan Manuel Soria said the government will come out in defense of Respol if Argentina tries to nationalize YPF.
“The (Spanish) government defends the interests of Spanish companies in and outside the country,” said the official from Warsaw, Poland.
“If somewhere in the world there are acts of hostility against those interests, the Government will interpretate them as gestures of hostility to Spain and to the government,” Soria said.
“If there are gestures of hostility, they will bring consequences,” continued the minister.
On this day, was sent a project from the Executive to the House of Representatives to declare a “public utility” 50.1% of YPF shares, enabling the government to expropriate.
