Hector Grondona, brother of the head of the AFA, died

The top scorer in the history of Arsenal de Sarandi and former sports director Hector Grondona died today at noon in the fight against cancer. He was 74.

Hector was the younger brother of Julio Grondona, president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), with whom he co-founded Arsenal Sarandi.

As a player, he wore the shirts of Arsenal, Independiente, Huracan, Spanish Sport, Sporting Cristal and Universitario of Peru, although his most memorable passage was in Sarandí, institution in which he is the leading scorer with 168 goals and 349 games.

Hector retired from the courts to become a sports leader. He became president of Arsenal and Independiente de Avellaneda. In 2003, he left football completely.
