New restrictions for withdrawing money abroad

Buenos Aires, March 12, 2012

The Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) imposed new constraints for the Argentines traveling abroad that want to withdraw money from ATMs.

To do this, people must have a savings account in the currency they want to extract. The measure will apply from April 3.

The statement of the Central Bank says: “The withdrawals of foreign currency using local debit cards from ATMs located overseas must be made with local debit customer accounts in foreign currency.”

This is a step that limits the purchase of foreign currency to be used abroad.
