Italian singer Lucio Dalla died after suffering a cardiac arrest

In Italy, bars, offices and media talked all day about the death of singer Lucio Dalla, one of the greats of the country’s music. 

Dalla, who was going to have 69 years on Sunday, suffered a cardiac arrest in the Swiss town of Montreux, where he was on tour. The news came to spread to local noon and surprised everyone. All voiced their condolences, from intellectuals to the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.

In Italy, Lucio Dalla was trending topic (topic of discussion in each country) on Twitter. Thousands of users dismissed him with phrases of his songs and personal dedications.

Dalla, indeed, was a sort of icon, the author of songs that scarred several generations and remain in the history of Italian melodic music.
