Roger Waters: “The Falklands are Argentine”
Argentina, February 28, 2012
Roger Waters, former leader of the band Pink Floyd, dedicated a few words to the conflict between Britain and Argentina over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands before his arrival to the South American country.
“The Malvinas are Argentine” said the English musician, adding “the war of 1982 saved the political career of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, but killed many British and Argentine people”.
Waters, who will offer nine shows in Argentina at the River Plate Stadium, said in statements to the Chilean press that the Falklands (Malvinas) are Argentine and that the war saved the political career of Margaret Thatcher.
The content of the interview was not released yet, although there could be learned these statements through the Twitter account of the journalist Amaro Gomez-Pablos, his interviewer.
Roger Waters will play next weekend in Santiago de Chile, as his shows in Buenos Aires are scheduled between 7 and 20 of March.
